In the medical field, the term prophylaxis is used and heard quite often. But what exactly is prophylaxis?
Prophylaxis means prevention!
As an orthodontist I take this request very seriously, especially where young people are concerned.
Our aim:
To make patients aware of the importance of preventing
tooth decay and gum desease. Also, to give them healthy, even and beautiful teeth at the end of their treatment.
The responsible awareness of good oral hygiene should be instilled for a life time.
Our challenge is to motivate and inspire you.
Oral hygiene is the most important factor during treatment with permanent braces.

Your treatment plan is designed especially for you.
First, a saliva test is performed. Following that, the teeth are stained to make the weak points more noticeable.
The correct way of brushing will be demonstrated to you. Your teeth will be cleaned with special airflow (powder-water-jet) and treated with fluoride i.e. and they will be completely sealed.
If an increased risk of tooth decay is established after the saliva test a special prophylactic program is devised for the patient.
During this program jet-clean-powder, chlorhexiding and cervitec depot are used.
This complies with world-wide prophylactic standard.
